Lauren asked: I’m writing a paper on abortion versus adoption and I was wondering, what are the emotional side effects from giving a baby up for adoption?

~Stefany asked: is there anyone that someone knows or is there someone here who has given up their 2nd baby up for adoption but not their 1st? how did they/you come up with the courage to do that? & why is it that they decided to do it? did having one already make it easier? I just want to know, I know a lot of people give up their 1st baby but for the ones who don’t & have another 2nd baby, how is it that you can give up that one?

Amanda asked: It seems like a majority of answers I get in this category are either from people who gave up babies and then regretted it later, or from adopted babies that are angry with their birth parents for giving them up. Just curious, how many of you fit into either of these categories? Is this representative of the adoption community, or are there success stories where both sides end up happy?

Hopeful Parent asked: My husband and I have been looking to adoption. We would like to adopt a baby but find that most adoption services do not have a lot of family history information. We would like to find a female that is pregnant and knows they do not want the baby. That way we can get to know the birth Mother and maybe allow her to have a relationship with the baby we adopt. How can we find a female in Toronto Ontario that may be pregnant and not want her baby after it is born.

H****** asked: Does it encourage poor parents to abandon their children to ‘orphanages’?
ETA This is the view of the ‘Save the Children’ Charity who say there has been an increase in children being placed in orphanages in the hope that some rich Americans will come adopt them. So if Randy’s right and their not doing that in high numbers, there are more children festering in orphanages as a direct result, right?

PolishChikka asked: I am fourteen almost fifteen years old. I just found out about a year ago that I was adopted.It has been very confusing and hard to understand even though I’m older.You see my birth mother is the cousin of my adopted parents.And she gave me up because she was very young and my birth father had died before I was born.My birth mother just married about two years ago,but the man of course she married is not my real father.
Today,in the mail there was an invatation to my birth mother’s baby shower.I know I should be excited and happy for her but it’s really difficult.
I guess you could say I get sort-of jealous that this child will get to stay with her and be raised by her and I was given up at birth.
I feel that she will always love this child more and not me.
I don’t know if I am reacting right or not…but I am so confused…How should I be reacting I mean should I be happy or upset?
thanx=]
