Does anyone know about adopting a baby in California?
My husband and I want to adopt a baby from the foster system, does anyone know what we need to do to be able to adopt in the state of Cali? We are both 23yrs old and we are currently living with my parents. We are planning to get a house of our own soon!! Who do we need to contact? Do we have to wait till we have a house?

Contact your local social services. We started our paperwork when we were living in an old trailer that never would’ve been approved. They’ll want to see where the baby/kid(s) are going to be living, so you’ll have to move before you complete your homestudy.

There are many great agencies to go through for adoption. The process is very involved and lengthy, but the agency that you choose will generally do much of the paperwork and will have legal information that is needed. You should try a google search by typing in your city and “Foster agency” or “Adoption agency” and either of those should get you the information that you need. Best of luck!

Get your own house first. The judge won’t like you living with mom and dad or the agency. Can’t afford a place of your own most likely can’t afford a child.

contact the county department of social services (find the right number on the county website) you can go to the required classes and meet with a social worker before you get your own house, if may actually help to find the right house, knowing what is required.
the county i live in will work with anyone who wants to adopt as much as needed to get a child in a forever family

I’ve adopted two children from California and 3 from Ohio honestly if you want a baby, or any child, your best way is to become foster/adoptive parents. Foster parents always have the first opportunity to adopt a child already living in their home. I fostered 100’s of California children and had the choice to adopt many!
