I would also base it on when you are comfortable with your body again . . . if you are still carrying weight that you intend to lose at 4 months, you may want to wait longer as the tattoo could become distorted if you lose or gain weight. I had one on my lower back before getting pregnant and 2 kids later, it still looks the same. That skin wasn't effected much. Now, that said, I got my tattoo when I was 18, and now wish I didnt have one at all. It's so silly to permanently mark your body...I guess to each his own, but if you haven't put much thought into it, I would think long and hard about it first. I dont see why not.
