Now I'm coming at this from the perspective of an adopting parent.OK
If you are not 100% sure about giving up the child - save everyone grief and waste of effort and think what is best for the child.

Naturally, as a mother you're going to have feelings.
But when you realise the long term commitment 15 + yrs of raising educating and providing for this child can you really do it?
And even to think about putting the yet to be baby out there...
is an indication and a hesitation that you're not ready for motherhood.
But you are not alone.

There are good people and plenty of child support systems if partner /family is unable or unwilling to help with bringing up baby.
What ever you decide -its going to be life changing.
Don't worry, stress is bad for both of you, so think beautiful dreams and be prepared.

You can back out. There is a point at which the birthmom can change her mind after the birth, but it varies from state to state.

My cousin (no I don't approve of this) got pregnant at 16, gave her baby up for adoption, decided months later she wanted him back, went to court and got him. That was years ago though so hopefully they have given the new adoptive parents more rights.

Legally I'm not sure. I would never want someone else to raise my kid. So I'm only having kids when I know I can handle it.

Then you will keep the baby and the adoptive family would be upset and hopefully could find another baby. I think that is an adoptive parents worst fear. Finding the baby they were hoping for and not getting to have it in the end. Actually I believe you can change your mind up to 6 or 12 months after the baby is born.

A mother has the right to change her mind about the adoption all the way up to the due date, and I believe up to six months after the adoption is finalized.

Even if you thought it was what you wanted, you can definitely tell them in the hospital you have changed your mind and the close the case and the adoptive parents have to deal with it. But they are informed of those risks when they begin the process.

I think you have a certain amount of time after everything is signed in case you change your mind. Not sure though
