Can you put a kid up for adoption? Like a 11 year old? Like if someone really cannot be assed spending money on them and raising them?

My husband and I are in the process of adoption. We have been approached by a young woman that wants us to adopt her child. The birth father is against this adoption. Would we have a case if we decided to go through with the adoption and fight the birth father? The birth father does not have the means to support this child alone. He wanted her to abort the child, but since she didn’t he is living by the philosophy of “either I get it or no one does.” It is more of him wanting to win than really wanting this child. Does anyone know what we would be up against? Would we even have a shot of keeping this baby if he decided to fight us for it? He has claimed to have filed some sort of pre-paternity establishment. Does this even exist? We live in Texas.

Heather from my POV you miscarried and did not abort. IMO abortion is the willing termination of life of an unborn child. There is nothing willing about a miscarriage.
joslin: No bias was intended. I dont think I implied that one was easier than the other. I may have unintentionally implied that parenting was emotionally easier than any alternative.

i won’t go into details about her incompetence. she is 16 and completely devoid of financial assistance other than my family’s. needless to say she is in no condition to raise a child. i’m not looking for a lecture on abortion. i am looking for persuasive points that i could bring up in our upcoming talk to convince her to make the first unselfish decision in her life.

When men leave them but women keep the baby because she feels closer to the baby than the man ? Because she went though alot ( many months being pregnant, delivery, getting child support lol what would y’all do with out it ? ) so she feels more guilty if she aborts or adoption. Most women really dont want raise a baby at that unexpected moment but they feel pressure from society. What do yall think ?
