Why don’t people consider putting the baby up for adoption after birth?

How do you explain this lack of awareness, and what do you think can be done about it?
I can understand not wanting to go through labor. In this case a fetus is essentially a parasite.

But people who feel that way aren’t asking “Should I keep the baby or abort?” I want to know why *those* people seem to be unaware of adoption as an alternative.
I haven’t adopted any, but my gf’s parents adopted her. They were on a waiting list for *four years* waiting for a baby to become available.

I’ve heard of it, but don’t know if it’s true. People in my history class were debating on abortion, and a girl spoke up and said, “I mean, there’s no reason for abortion, the Catholic Church will take any and all babies, they have over 2 million handicap babies and won’t refuse any.”

So, I mean, is there some type of adoption agency in the Catholic Church? If so, could somebody direct me to some online information about it, I would like to do some research on it.

okay i know some mothers just cant deal with their babys but i dont know i dont think i could ever deal with giving my baby for adoption…how do some mothers give them up like that why cant they fight for their babies?

My husband and I had not planned to have kids but when I got pregnant, abortion and adoption were out of the question. We were both really scared at first but have become more accepting and my huband has been really supportive, until recently. Now, 2 weeks away from having this baby he tells me that he doesnt want a baby and that we should give it up for adoption because he thinks it will ruin us and he will not let it ruin his life.He’s concerned about not being able to go out partying when he wants(how selfish) What about my life? Does this mean that he will resent me for not wanting to give it up? A day later he’s asking how the baby is doing and that he will not let this ruin us, so of course he is trying to say sorry for freaking out. What am I to make of all of this? Will he come around after the baby comes or is that wishful thinking?

this is not one of those anti-abortion things. i will not say how i feel about it! but all the people that say “adoption is always an option” do you really believe that? would you be able to give your baby up for adoption?

a lot will disagree but i would never be able to have my baby and then give him/her away. ever. i do not believe it is always an option.

I did a horrid thing… I was having an affair with a married man (I’m married too)…. I am now pregnant as a result of my ignorance… I was considering giving the baby up for adoption… The question that I am asking is… If I want to give this baby up for adoption and go through a private agency…. Will I need this mans consent to do so?… I wont consider abortion… This baby will make some family really happy.
