if a mother tries to give her baby up for adoption and the father wants the baby can mother change her mind?

a mother got a temporary court order giving her baby to another family with out the father knowing, then the father finds out and is trying to get custody and the mother has now changed her mind and wants the baby is there any chance that the mother would get custody over the father since she tried to give the baby up?
