You're ruining your baby's life. You will regret giving your baby up. You don't know how stable strangers are. You should keep your baby. Fuaite le fuil, gaolta go deo

open adoptions are not enforceable... no matter how many times the adoptive parents assure you it will be. They just want your baby they don't care about you.

Be prepared to never see your little baby again - because it could happen. Heather

Understand that open adoptions are NOT legally enforceable, no matter what an agency tells you or pap's promise. Now, certainly many pre-adoptive parents truly want an open adoption. But, many also don't but are counseled to say they're open to it because it will make them more attractive to "birth" mothers. Once the adoption is final they can disappear and never be found again. It happens and it's dispicable. As an adoptive mother who wants my daughter to have as much of her history and people who love her as possible, it makes me so angry. So, you just have to be aware that sometimes open adoption promises are actually used as "bait" to make an expectant mother more likely to relinquish. Erin L

You should take into consideration that open adoptions are not legally enforceable and that most are closed as soon as possible after the natural mother (or father) has lost all rights to her (his) child. The adoption boards are full of mothers and fathers who report that their open adoptions were closed by adoptive parents.

You will find the truth about adoption in this brochure that was written by a mother who lost her child to open adoption lies:

"What you should KNOW if you're considering adoption for your baby" grapesgum

Open adoptions are not legally honored in most states which means all the control is in the aparents' hands.
Mothers lose all rights to the child the minute they sign the papers which means if you were ever to upset, offend or annoy the people who are raising your child, they have the right to cut you off completely. They can even change their names and move to another state and there is not a single thing you can can do about it.

The concept of "Open Adoption" is simply a marketing ploy to get people to relinquish their babies and the majority of "Open Adoptions" are truly closed adoptions in disguise.

That's the first thing you should know.

Be careful. Do your research. Good luck. Isabel A

The first thing I would recommend is making sure that you get adequate counseling and support to make sure that you are making the decision for the right reasons and that you really have explored all your options for raising your child. If it is still something that you feel is best for your child, then make sure that you use an agency that will provide you with support/counseling after the adoption is completed to help you through the grieving.

When you are choosing the family to raise your child, you want to make sure that you all have mutual support and clear expectations of what will occur in the future as far as communication. You will always be connected to this family, so you want to make sure the family is one that you can have a relationship with throughout your child's life.

Most of all - take your time and do not let anyone push you into doing something that you feel is wrong. EAArcher

Uh, putting your email address in the question is inviting solicitation of all sorts. Really bad idea. But you'll find that out in roughly...oh...34 seconds or so.

What's wrong with being a single mom? If this is strictly a financial problem, I would suggest that you seek resources rather than giving up your child.

Consider that open adoptions are not legally enforceable and can close. Consider also that an open adoption may be too painful for you, and therefore you may walk away.

Please get plenty of advice from a variety of people before moving ahead and most importantly: CONTACT NO ONE FROM THE INTERNET offering to adopt your baby. AnnaBelle
