You can check the Chinese Center of Adoption Affairs website. This is the govt. run organization that handles all of the adoptions in China, both International and Intranational. C P

I doubt you will find any accurate stats of the number of adoptions within China

This is because many many children are stolen and/or sold. There is no record of those children although it is estimated at 70,000 per year

If you're looking to adopt from China I went to a seminar on just recently and overheard the agency spokesperson explain that China is AT THIS MOMENT going to take you between 2 and three years to get a child adopted from there. She said it's actually closer to three years total time from the moment your paperwork is received. I was floored because I'd always heard adoptions from China were quick and easy because they have so many girls. One couple there was dissapointed, I could tell - as they'd asked questions specifically on Chinese adoption. 4Abbie&4Maddie

Interesting question, and it appears that this may be a bit of a mystery. I did find an interesting blog entry with some info that made me wonder where all of those unwanted Chinese babies are going. See source. Colo_Mom
