    Hi Xmorgs,

Less than 1% of unplanned teen pregnancies result in adoption. Most families raise their children, even when unplanned. Unplanned pregnancies does not = unwanted or unloved children! Good angles to present for your school project to prevent unnecessary adoptions would include:

-Reduce teen pregnancies in the first place by better sex education and better access to convenient, free contraceptive services.

-Have abortion services available for anyone who wishes to end an unwanted pregnancy.

-Direct those who do wish to continue their pregnancies to needed community resources so they will better be able to parent their children.

These suggestions will help more children be able to stay with their families. Good luck on your project.

Almost 0%. Now-a-days families want to keep their babies in their families rather then sending them away to live with strangers. People are a lot more enlightened than they were 20-30 years ago when teens were send away in shame to homes. The trend now is for older women to give their babies away.

    Sorry - I had a link and now I can’t find it.

ETA - here’s the link that I have

“In 1970, approximately 80% of the infants born to single mothers were placed for adoption, whereas by 1983 that figure had dropped to only 4%”[20].

In contrast to numbers in the 1960s and 1970s, from 1989 to 1995 less than 1 percent of children born to never-married women were surrendered for adoption.”

    A couple of good sources:
    google “Baby Scoop Era”
Check out the book, “The Girls Who Went Away” by Ann Fessler. She provides great details on the changing statistics of teen pregnancy in America over the past several decades.

I found the book at my local library.

    Good Luck!

i dont know and my answer wont really help but i think its an amazing, beautiful and selfless thing to do. If you cant support and provide a decent home for a child, then i give my support to the strong and brave women who choose adoption over abortion.
