Comments on: why do some adults suggest that teens who are pregnant give their baby up 4 adoption? or abortion?

Very few people would suggest that a teen have an abortion as this is not birthcontrol. If you consider yourself responsible enough to be having sex then you should handle the consequences. Reality check babies are very expensive it is difficult for a teenager to make enough money to support a child when they temselves need support from their family to get an education and get ahead in life. A new baby will cost about $40 a week on formulas, $50 a week in pampers, $30 a week in miscellanious items like wipies, baby products, detergent etc. Day care in Florida costs an average of $135 a week for you to be able to work and make enough money to cover rent, gas, electricity food and other expenses. Do the math. Most teenage mothers end up on welfare and in need of government help like WIC adn foodstamps unable to provide a great education for their children. Teenagers need to think hard if they want to make their babies struggle in a hard situation or give them a chance for a better life by placing them in adoption. The best interest of the child is what is important and I think most teenagers are more concerned about what they look like, who likes them, what clothes they should wear to a party, when is the next party etc and are unable to provide for themselves financially much less for a child. There are a lot of families that can take care of those babies and give them what they deserve a loving home where they are wanted and loved with enough stability for a child to grow up with a good self image and self worth and with enough economic advantages to realize any dream they may have. Raising a child is not easy, think about it before oyu have unprotected sex.

Abortion is often seen as an option for pregnant teens as most teens body are not ready for the strain of childbirth and it can kill girls.

Adoption is used so that teens’ lives are not focused around the baby and they can finish high school and go to college without having to support a child.

It’s not that they can’t take care of the child, it’s just that they can’t take care of the child by themselves. Pregnant teens don’t own a house of their own, usually, and they don’t exactly have a job that can pay the bills. Yes, bills. There are life insurance bills, check up bills, hospital bills, there’s money you pay for clothing, food, medication, there’s a lot of things to pay for. Another thing is that teens aren’t fully matured yet. they may be more mature than middle schoolers, but teens still have an attitude, for loss of a better word. Usually, they cannot handle this on their own. Yes, they may have the father’s help, and the father’s parents’ help, and they may have their own parents’ help, but parenting is a life experience that adults go through, and no one can hold your hand all the way through it.

hey think it’ll be better for the child and the mother but i dont agree with it always.. some people cant bring themselves to do that… like i know i couldnt do that but my mother put me up for adoption…and im glad she did cuz i know i have a better life now than i would have with her,

because adults now a days are narrow minded and can’t see teens “properly” raising babies. Even though some teens do a better job then adults!

There are a large number of teens who are ill-equipped to deal with the emotional, financial, and physical demands of having and caring for a baby. Having a baby is hard under the best of circumstances, and when you are still a child yourself, unmarried, haven’t even finished high school, have no prospects of getting a job that can support you and your child, and have to rely on your parents and/or the government to help raise your child, those are certainly circumstances that are less than ideal.

Teenage mothers and their children are at huge risks for poor life outcomes, so it’s not necessarily the worst thing in the world to consider giving your baby up to a couple who can provide a better life for it, and delaying parenthood until you are better able to handle it. Choosing what is best for your unborn baby is a very selfless thing to do.

basically if youre a teen, you most likely dont have enough money to raise a child, most teens dont live on their own and couldnt even if they tried.

adoption is the best way to go if you cant afford to raise a child.

abortion is crazy to me because if i aborted a baby at 6 months it would be perfectly legal but if i had a premature baby at 6 months and killed it i would most likly go to jail.

when a girl gets pregnant when she is a young teen, it is usually unplanned. girls lives can be ruined. while i wouldnt suggest abortion as the best answer, it truly is up to the woman carrying the baby.
i just wish everyone would use pretection.
its a shame that there is so many abortions in the world.
people need to think about the consequences before they have sex

because people automatically assume that teens are going to make terrible parents
which is sometimes the case I guess
butbthere are also some teens who make better mommies than 30 year olds
I personally would keep the baby If I ever did get pregnant at this age..abortion is COMPLETELY out of the question for me
and there is no way I could carry a baby to term and then give it up like its no big deal
But thats just me
I know I’d make a great mama

We want teen mothers to make decisions to what is best for the child.

And very, very few of us suggest abortions.
