Erm…I’m not sure where you live, but where I live it’s illegal to dump a baby in a hosiptal or anywhere.

Adoption is a brilliant thing, it prevents a child from being with parents who aren’t mentally or phsically capable and sends them to a loving home where the parents cannot have children.

Why should a woman make a choice if she isn’t mentally or financially ready? I thought that was simple, if she didn’t then she (if she couldn’t afford it) would cause her and her child to starve, be homeless or rely on the good old tax payer to support her. If she wasn’t mentally capable then she would cause herself and her child mental and maybe even physical harm.

A woman can have an abortion because it’s in her body and technically a foetus isn’t a human being.

I personally could not do any of those things. I have more initiative and would consider that I have to be ready to raise a child and make it happen.

A woman would make those choices for a lot of reasons.

She is not physically ready to carry a child.

She is not emotionally ready to care for a child.

she’s a drug addict.

She’s immature.

She doesn’t think it’s fair to bring a child into the world with ill-prepared parents and an uncertain future.

I don’t know how anyone could do it. I think that, if a woman is not ready to be a mother, she should not risk becoming a mother by being sexually active. It is not fair to the baby by any means. Same goes for men, really - if they aren’t ready to step up and be a dad they should control themselves. But people want to have their fun and not have to be responsible for the consequences. And so we have over a million abortions every year (and only around 5% are done for medical reasons or rape victims), we have babies abandoned at the hospital and left to die in dumpsters.

Adoption, though, that is altogether different. Adoption is incredibly selfless and, IMO, heroic. Giving up that little baby to a family who can care for it better than you are able to is a difficult decision to make, and it is a far cry from abandoning or killing a baby. It is in some cases, saving the baby’s life. Adoption is a gift.

i will say that they have no chose in what else to do, they have no support from the father, no support from parents and families and friends

Desperation, nobody wants an unplanned pregnancy but if it does happen there are choices. I would not want the government or anyone else to tell me what to do with my body. It is the womans life you are talking about and it should be her decision.

Yeah, but we have choices too! either we “keep it in our pants” (like if we are more responsible than women in pregnancy scenarios), pay child support (or support the child if we re in a relationship), or go to debtor’s prison.

I think they are really hard choices to make. Sometimes, women in already desperate situations find themselves pregnant.

They aren’t emotionally ready to raise a child. They are financially able to support the child. They are teenagers too scared to tell their parents. They are unwed and their family disapproves.

I have never had to make a decision like that, but I know several girls who did. One chose adoption, one abortion, a few chose to keep the kids and make a go of it. Not one ever said “It was the easiest decision of my life”.
